RE Drift brings together artists, residents, ecologists, and researchers, by making work as communities in response to the multiplicities of West Cumbria.
This often overlooked stretch of the British coastline and its inland fells and tributaries, serve as inspiration and critique for artists, reflecting on its historical, industrial, militarised, nuclear, and extensive natural habitats.
Outcomes include sculpture, film, live performance, sound, text, installations, and community-focused initiatives – all within a critical, contemporary context – creating a dialogue for both local and international practitioners and audiences alike.
The work reimagines and reinvents our relationships to the natural and man-made aspects of the Cumbrian coastline.
